Does the end justify the means?

Does the good that results justify the sin?

weve been through this.
No.
the good result doesnt justify the sin.
But it also doesnt make the resulting good, bad. The result is still good.
The act was the thing that ws bad
I think Jason had you at youth.....

So taking Jason's point of view, evil is always the product of sin? There can never be a good product of sin? Can you not make someone feel good by telling a lie? Yes, some are more obvious bad outcomes than others, but still, there are loopholes in both arguments. Just because someone sins it doesn't mean that there will necesarily be a bad product/outcome from it. Maybe the end doesn't justify the means, but the end can make the means much much better.

Ah, but the other one I thought of was if there was a crazy murderer running after someone and you knew where they were hiding. The murderer says which way did they go and you lie. As a result, the murderer goes the wrong way and the other person lives instead of dies. You lied. Which is the lesser of two evils. Which result was good?
